Bootstrap do not use Jquery now, but you can. It let the developper to implement their script or use something as Vanilla.

No the v2.x will stay like that. This approach is new, we are thinking also to let the horizontal menu as an option. the decision is not taken.

About the chart it's also js approach with no depedency with Jquery.

Nice to shre the futur ClicShopping, the vertical is use for long time by some application. Let the horizontal menu can be a good idea. Some people can use the qpplication with their desktop et personnally, it's better to have an horizontal menu that a vertical menu.
